LUCID is a piece about attention, fragmentation, collage, internet culture, what Marshall McLuhan called the “all-at-onceness” of digital media. It’s about learning how to process information and making sense of the narratives that swirl around you everyday. Throughout the piece, a quote from playwright Richard Foreman (delivered in fragments in English and Japanese) offers the possibility of “swimming, lucid and self-contained, in that turbulent sea of multiplicity”.
