LUCID is a piece for piano and electronics that explores themes of attention and fragmentation. The work draws on popular culture, archival material, natural imagery and experimental techniques to create a frenetic patchwork of quotations, concepts and stylistic allusions.

The piece explores internet culture and its vast, complex landscape of memes, viral videos, news reports, adverts and random data, what Marshall McLuhan called the 'all-at-onceness' of digital media. Throughout the piece, a quote from Richard Foreman (delivered in fragments simultaneously in English and Japanese) offers the possibility of 'swimming, lucid and self-contained, in that turbulent sea of multiplicity.'
